ST. Oswalds A still look favourites to win the Warrington and North Cheshire Bowls Association Monday League Section A title despite suffering a 9-5 defeat at the hands of Tetley A.
S. Fitzsimmons took Tetley's sweep 21-9. The best reply came from Steve Brown, 21-6.
Second-placed King and Queen A were beaten 10-5 at home to Rylands A. Bill Burlinson and Ken Armitage both won 21-8 for Rylands. John Clarke replied with a 21-7 card.
Alford Hall A beat GESM A 12-2. Their top winner was Gordon Sloane, 21-9. Keith Ashcroft won 21-4 for GESM.
Linden Taylor's 21-9 card helped Brooklands A to an 11-3 win against Grapes. John Terratta took the visitors' sweep 21-3.
Monk Sports A's 8-7 victory over Grange A included Dennis Aldred's 21-6 sweep winner. Alan Warburton replied with a 21-6 card.
Hollins Park B leapt to the top of Section B with a 14-0 whitewash against Woolston A. Their star performers were A. Potter, 21-2 and D. Thompson, 21-3.
Third-placed Grange B won 9-6 at Monk Hall. Their best winners were Martin McInerny, 21-9 and Stan Peever, 21-11. Jim Carter won 21-9 for the home side.
Red Lion A's 8-7 win at Tetley D included Mike Harney's 21-4 card. Wilf Briggs took the home sweep 21-2.
Wins by Neil Hoult, 21-4 and Tony Creasey, 21-6, helped Bulls Head A to a 9-6 win at in-form Richmonds A. Brian Ellis replied with a 21-3 card.
Section C's new leaders Bank Quay A defeated Hollins Park A 12-2. G. Lythgoe, 21-3 and J. Dickenson, 21-7, were their top performers.
Eagle A slipped into second spot despite a 10-4 victory over King and Queen B. S. Owens won their sweep 21-10.
Wins from C. Sedgebeer, 21-7 and S. Grant, 21-9, helped Saracens Head to an 11-3 success over British Rail.
St. Oswald B's 11-3 victory over Farmers B included M. Mannion's 21-5 sweep winner.
Section D leaders Post Office thrashed Monk Sports B 12-2. Their best players were D. Mason, 21-7, D. Carroll and J. McKay, both 21-9.
Second-placed Fiddlers Ferry defeated Tetley B 9-5. Their top wins came from G. Pugh, 21-3 and J. Blake, 21-10. B. Sutcliffe replied with a 21-9 card.
Burtonwood A moved into third spot following an 11-3 victory over Pierpoints A. F. Laff and T. Speakman both returned 21-11 cards for Burtonwood.
Wins from B. Fox, 21-7 and J. Brown, 21-9, helped GESM B to an 11-3 success against Culcheth Sports A. P. Ellison took the visitors' sweep 21-4.
Woolston B's 9-5 win against Stag A included S. Smith's 21-7 sweep winner. David Heald replied with a 21-8 card.
Crosfields remained favourites to win Section F. They held a four-point lead over Tetley C with a game in hand.
The Section F title looked to be going to Brooklands B, who led the way by 12 points.
Bulls Head B led Section G by six points from Irish Club A. Grange C were a further 15 points back.
Plough already had Section H sewn up thanks to an unassailable 26-point cushion over GESM C.
