Rae of hope in Australia

A WARRINGTON teenager has been boosting her taekwondo knowledge overseas.

Nicola Rae has returned from a stint with Jai Taekwondo Academy in Sydney, Australia, where she spent three weeks studying a variety of alternative methods and moves to those which she uses.

The 16-year-old from Woolston, who will be attending Priestley College in September after finishing at St. Gregory's School, will use her new knowledge to improve her performances in international competitions and major championships to come later this year.

GYCA plays host

THE first meeting of the Grappenhall Darts Winter League will be held at GYCA on September 4 starting at 8pm.

Teams plus players' names for the Lafferty Shield Seven-a-Side competition must be handed in at this meeting.

Charity Pairs

WARRINGTON Women's Afternoon Bowls League members are reminded that the Charity Pairs competition starts this week.

Action will commence on September 9 at Bank Park and the final games will be played on September 9.

Rugby festival

EIGHT junior Rugby League sides will be competing in Woolston Rovers' Under 8s Rugby Festival on Sunday.

Spectators are more than welcome to attend. Entertainment will be provided via a bouncy castle, a DJ and face painting.

The action begins at 10am and the entrance fee is £1 per car.

Veterans event

WARRINGTON Public Parks' Bowls League's rearranged Veterans competition will be played at Victoria Park One on September 11 starting at 6.30pm.

City fans' night

THE next meeting of the Warrington branch of the Manchester City Supporters' Club takes place on Thursday, September 5 and will start at 8pm.

A special guest will be in attendance at the meeting at King and Queen, Padgate and potential new members will be made welcome.

Babb off target

APPLETON Rifle Club star Mike Babb put in 'a solid shoot' at the World Cup finals in Munich.

The 38-year-old made a poor start but he recovered well to secure eighth spot in a competition which boasted the 15 best rifle shooters in the world.

Soap's big dinner

CROSFIELDS are holding their centenary gala dinner on September 20 at Alford Sports Club.

Entertainment will be provided by Mick Morgan, Mick Miller and Leslie Gibson.
