out as homes are approved
PLANNING permission has been granted for a residential development on land near a Glazebury church, despite parish council objections.
Borough councillors gave outline consent for the development, on a third-of-an-acre plot between Glazebury Methodist Church and a property immediately to the south.
Glazebury and Culcheth parish councillors opposed the plans, while the Council for the Protection of Rural England expressed its concern.
But planning officer Michael Davies confirmed that the land was a brown field area due to past developments, and therefore could not be classed as green belt land.
Delia Caswell, of Glazebury Parish Council, said: "We are very concerned that we could be losing this area as the plot is on the green belt.
"It seems a shame if planning permission is granted before the borough council carries out its review on green belt areas.
"Soon we won't have any green belt left to designate. This could be the thin end of the wedge and start off more development in Glazebury."
