Mrs Jessie Bell, wife of the late Mr Edward Arthur Bell, died on July 22, aged 88.

Mrs Bell, of Gernon Manor, Bakewell, Derbyshire, was born in Lymm and lived in the Rushgreen Road area for 84 years. She was employed as a market garden assistant at Wrights & Hallmans for 20 years.

For the majority of her life, Mrs Bell lived in Lymm, only moving to be near her daughter in Derbyshire when her eyesight began to deteriorate four years ago. She was well known in the Lymm community for her cake-making skills and her friendly personality.

Mrs Bell leaves a daughter, two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

A service was held on July 30 at St Peter's Church, Oughtrington, prior to interment in the churchyard. The Rev Michael Burgess officiated.

All donations were sent to the Royal National Institute for the Blind.
