Mr Terry Wells, husband of Mrs Alwyn Wells, died at home surrounded by his family on July 24, after a short illness. He was 66.

Mr Wells, of Kingsway South, Latchford, was born in Northallerton, North Yorkshire, and moved to Henshall Avenue, Latchford, at the age of seven. In his younger years he would travel back to his birthplace with his two brothers to visit the places he knew as a child.

While completing his National Service in Leamington Spa, he met his wife. The couple married in 1955, raising three children.

His main hobby was agriculture and he always had a colourful display of flowers and plants in his front garden, as well as keeping a well-stocked greenhouse full of tomatoes. His other favourite pastime was DIY, which kept him very busy, not only on his own house but on many of his family and friends'.

He was on the committee of Latchford Labour Club for many years before its closure, prior to joining The Grange Sports and Social Club, where he formed a dominoes team of which he was captain, and which won many trophies.

Mr Wells loved playing with his grandchildren, on whom he doted, and was a devoted family man.

He leaves his wife, daughter, two sons, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, mother and two brothers.

A service was held on August 2 at St Augustine's RC Church, followed by interment at Fox Covert. The Rev Father Roger Clarke officiated.

Arrangements were made by Cheshire Funeral Services, of Gorsey Lane.
