Mrs Edith Massey, wife of the late Mr John Massey, died on July 15 after a short illness. She was 91.

Mrs Massey, of Alexandra Street, was a lifelong resident of Warrington.

She married her husband on January 2, 1937, before he saw service with the RAF during the Second World War, and throughout that time worked at Burtonwood Airbase.

Mrs Massey was a keen churchgoer, and worshipped for more than 50 years at St John's Mission Church in Bruche. Her many activities and interests included being an all-time member of the Town's Women's Guild, regularly attending Winmarleigh and Bold Street Luncheon Clubs, dressmaking, crossword puzzles and baking for family and friends. She also enjoyed playing the piano for her own pleasure and that of friends and neighbours.

Mrs Massey led a full, active and independent life, and was devoted to her family.

She leaves two daughters and three granddaughters.

A service was held on July 22 at St John's Mission Church, prior to cremation at Walton Lea. The Rev Michael Finlay officiated.
