GREEN fingered residents at Bembridge Court are celebrating after scooping a special award in a senior citizens gardening competition organised by Congleton mayor Clr Trish Barlow.
Bembridge Court was singled out by the judges as a garden worth of special mention and as such will be presented with an award and certificate.
But the overall winner of the competition, which rewarded residents of the borough for having well kept gardens, was not from Middlewich.
That honour went to Ray Whalley, 81, of Greendale, Childs Lane, near Brownlow and he is now to open his garden to the public on Thursday, September 5 to enable everyone to see the fruits of his labour.
The event was judged by Clr Barlow and the deputy mayor Clr Doug Parker and attracted more than 20 entries from across the borough.
All proceeds from the event are to go to the mayor's chosen charity, Macmillan Nurses.
