A LETTER has been sent to residents of Kingsmead from the parish council - asking for views on how the area can move forward.

The purpose of the letter was to present some of the issues which are currently part of the differing nature of Kingsmead and Davenham.

It is hoped sufficient numbers of interested people can be found to canvass each household in Kingsmead as to their views.

Following this canvass the parish council hopes the interested group will present an independent report to the parish and borough councils before the end of this year as to the best way forward.

This will aid the borough council in presenting its own report to the reviewer of the Vale Royal parishes.

Most of the area has been a part of the Davenham Civil Parish for many years.

Now that development is almost complete various issues relating solely to Kingsmead have arisen. These include:

l The undeveloped land north of Kingsmead Square is zoned for public use in the borough plan. Most householders were advised on buying their properties that this would be the site of a primary school.

l There are a number of ornamental ponds that form attractive features but nevertheless may be hazards that are outside the control of the parish or Borough Councils.

l The creation of the present Kingsmead ward took in the older dwellings along the west side of London Road south of Leftwich Post Office and did not include that part of the new development, 65 to 71 houses, that are under the jurisdiction of Northwich Town Council.

l It appears to the Davenham Parish Council that a strong sense of community is lacking in Kingsmead, which has no public community centre or village hall in or close to Kingsmead Square, and a common aim is required.

l Kingsmead is in the same borough and county council wards as Leftwich and has little physical connection with Davenham.
