AN Orford woman will be attending a lavish ceremony in Liverpool tonight, Thursday, to find out if she has won a prestigious young achiever's award.

Lisa Park, aged 24, is up for an Achievement in Learning Award following her efforts to fulfil an ambition to work with children, despite having learning difficulties.

The Small Avenue resident has now been employed at First Steps Nursery in Penketh for two months, after SPARC (Special Persons Advice and Resource Council) helped her to follow her dream.

Lisa said: "I am really chuffed and so are my parents. As soon as my mum found out she was on the phone to my dad telling him!

"I am really looking forward to the event in Liverpool."

Lisa will be hobnobbing with Brookside actor Neil Caple, Changing Rooms designer Laura McCree and former Minister Edwina Currie at the gala dinner, which is being held to celebrate young talent and excellence in the region and to raise money for children's charity NCH.
