BRYN Labour and Newton Social A continue to lead the way at the top of the Earlestown Snooker League.

They recorded impressive 5-1 victories over Haydock Catholic A and Stubshaw Cross Labour respectively.

Bryn's winners were Tony Dean, Lee Cunliffe, Steve Witkiewicz, Andy Hulse and Lee Birchall while Mark Lawrenson was the only Newton player to suffer defeat. Des Myler was his victor.

St. Pats hammered Garswood Labour 5-1 thanks to the brilliant form of Mick Mann, Trevor Critchley, Steve Critchley, Andy Moorhouse and Mark McClymont. St. Pats' only loser was Dave Moran. Jack Cunliffe provided the opposition.

Vicars suffered a 4-2 defeat at the hands of Newton Social B, who only had five players at their disposal. Brian Morley, who overcame Steve Potts, was Vicars' only winner.

Haydock Reading Room A trounced Royal Hotel 5-1 while in-form Beer Engine beat Haydock Reading Room B 4-2. Mick Burke knocked in an outstanding 69 break in his win against Dave Roberts for Engine.

Newton Social C drew with Haydock Catholic B and Viaduct also had to settle for a share of the spoils in their match with North Ashton.
