Vulcan Newton FC 2

Grappenhall 1

VULCAN Newton manager Paul Tolan was not satisfied despite his side winning in Saturday's Warrington Soccer League programme.

The team led 2-0 at the break but failed to keep up the intensity.

Tolan said: "The first half performance was pleasing but the way we shut off after half-time was very dissatisfying and this will be addressed. In the end I thought we were lucky to hang on for the three points."

In-form striker Keiron Eaves capitalised on a mistake by the Grappenhall goalkeeper, who fumbled a shot and Eaves pounced.

Howard carved the Grappenhall back four open which led to man of the match Eaves bagging his second goal.

Grappenhall came out with all guns blazing in the second half and scored a well taken goal.

Grappenhall continued to push forward but the resistance of Whalley and Francis was too strong as time ticked away.

Vulcan Reserves were edged out by Runcorn Reserves 2-1. Vulcan played most of the second half with nine men.
