A TEENAGER faces two years of operations after having part of his ear bitten off in a vicious, unprovoked attack.

John Neary was bundled out of a fire exit on Saturday in Mr Smith's nightclub, Warrington, and set on by a group of men.

The 18-year-old had part of his ear sewn back on but now faces two skin grafts with lengthy healing periods in between.

John, of Vahler Terrace in the Old Town, said: "I was on the lower dance floor when a lad come up to me and said 'stay away from my girlfriend'.

"I've never seen him before in my life and the girl said she wasn't his girlfriend and that he is always following her round and trying to cause trouble.

"My mate went to the toilet so I was on my own on the dance floor, not even near the girl, when the lad came up to me again.

"He spat at me and pushed me and I can't remember what happened next, I just remember fists flying everywhere and waking up in Warrington Hospital."

Police say three or four men pushed John outside the club and assaulted him.

"I didn't know he had bitten my ear off but there was blood all over my shirt," said John.

"Apparently a girl picked my ear up and had it in a little bag."

John, who works for CFS in Widnes, then had to travel to Fazakerly Hospital where it took 20 stitches to sew part of the ear back on He then needed tetanus and hepatitis jabs in case of infection.

John added: "It's impossible to put back part of what they ripped off. I work with customers everyday and it's wrecked my looks!"
