I read with interest and surprise the article on the police crackdown on speeding motorists on the A57, A56, A49 and A574.
I use the A574 and regularly see police with speed cameras on this road.
However, it is always only on a Sunday and they are always situated on the motorway bridge over the M62, often in an unmarked vehicle, where they are surreptitiously snapping motorway drivers - not the A road.
The other three roads listed also cross motorways, so is it the case that the police are actually just raising funds by nicking motorway drivers while claiming to be improving road safety on our A roads?
I am all for improving road safety - but surely the people of Warrington would benefit more from a highly visible, proactive campaign on our A roads, in built up areas near to schools and at a time when children are arriving or leaving school- rather than paying for someone to work on a Sunday afternoon taking pictures of people passing through the town on a motorway.
