A PENKETH family will be featuring on TV screens across the country next week when they pop up on popular quiz show Family Fortunes.

The Haggetts travelled to the ITV studios in Nottingham in August to be filmed pitting their skills against the Honap family, from Birmingham, in the big money contest.

The team consisted of Chris and Sylvia Haggett and their daughter Beccy, all from Greystone Road, relatives Robin Haggett and Eileen Bate, and reserve member Amanda Donelan.

Beccy, aged 18, said: "We actually applied to go on the show about a year-and-a-half ago, and it's been something I've wanted to do since I was little.

"We went down to Nottingham and had a wonderful day. We were treated like stars, given dressing rooms with stars on the doors and everything was paid for, from a meal out to the accommodation.

"The next day we had a dress rehearsal in the morning where we were told where to stand and everything, and then the show was recorded as you see it on television.

"It was a great experience and I would definitely do it again."

The Haggett family are no strangers to the limelight. Chris and Sylvia are best known for their work with the annual Penketh Fun Run, while Beccy was one of the runners in the Queen's Jubilee Baton Race.

The ambitious youngster has also been in the public eye over the past year as she fundraised to take part in a Raleigh International trip to Africa.

After reaching her target of more than £3,000, Beccy has now jetted off to Ghana, where she will embark on community, adventure and environmental projects over a three-month period.
