PARR outfit, Shoe FC leapfrogged Penlake to go top of the Star Premier Division after demolishing Sidac Social 6-0, goals coming via Paul Rigby (2), C Chisnall, John Grady, Stephen K Pinder and Stevie Kenny, Penlake's away game at D J Motors did not take place due to pitch problems at Wilmere Lane.

Third placed Stars FC fell foul of an in-form Windle Labour display, Ian Kelly (2) and Barrie Devlin (2) goals giving the Labour Club a 4-1 win. Grosvenor Park deserved their 2-0 home win over Eccleston United, but Rainford North End found Billinge in good form at Billinge, goals from Gary Farrell, Chris Wiggins, Andy Rowe and Kevin Boyes resulting in a 4-2 win for the home side.

Two goals apiece from Paul Eccleston, Ian Curtis saw Clock Face Miners Welfare just hold on for a 4-4 home stalemate with Old Congs (Haydock).

A high scoring game in Division One resulted in a 6-4 home success for Moss Bank over Prescot Leisure Reserves.

A last minute header by Jason Fairhurst gave Nogs Head the points, beating Pilkingtons A team 3-2 at Ruskin. This added to the two penalties put away by Neil Ody. Paul Kelly (2) and Chris Hughes goals enabled Globe to save the day as they were held 3-3 by Carborundum at Haydock.

In Division Two Clock Face Miners Reserves forfeited their 100 per cent record so far by losing 3-1 at Windle Labour Reserves although Barry Jordan grabbed a goal back. Wheatsheaf, too, came to a sudden stop with Ramford Rangers inflicting a 3-2 home defeat on them, despite Ryan Cook and Sean Traynor goals.

Grove United scored first at Parr Stocks through Danny Oakes against Windledon, but the visitors made them pay later with interest to win 4-1. Despite goals from Andy Ledwith (2) Rainford North End Reserves were toppled 2-5 at home by Smithy Manor with goals by Craig Mark (3), Matty Doward and Lee Hunter.
