ST ROCCO'S Hospice is right on target after it secured a £3,500 donation from Target Worldwide Express.

Dress down days, raffles and auctions within the company helped raise the cash for the hospice, Target's chosen charity of the year.

Target Express have supported the hospice for a number of years, first as founding partners for the new hospice appeal, launched in 1995, and now through employee fundraising.

Denise Barr from Target, said: "St Rocco's has always had a special place in all our hearts. We are happy to support such a worthwhile local cause. Unlike national and international charities who receive support from celebrities and benefit from huge publicity campaigns, charities like St Rocco's are almost totally dependant on local support. I don't think any of us lose sight of the fact that there is a chance we may need their support at some stage in our lives."

She added: "Our visit to the hospice was an enlightening and uplifting experience, to be welcomed by people whose only desire is to make lives more comfortable was very moving. The commitment of staff to help the terminally ill, people who suffer from or have a family member that suffers from cancer, or children who have lost a parent, is a humbling experience to witness. Target feels honoured to support such a worthy cause and will continue our support in every way we can."
