THE funeral took place recently of Edward Basil Murphy (Baz), husband of Ann Murphy of Barnton, who died on January 25, aged 72.

Edward was born in Church Walk and lived in Barnton for 37 years.

He was employed as a computer services manager at ICI for 40 years.

The funeral service was held at Our Lady of Fatima RC Church, Barnton prior to cremation at Walton Lea Crematorium. Father J Farrell officiated

He was educated at Winnington Primary School, St. Wilfrid's School, Northwich Technical College & Manchester College of Technology. He served for two years in the RAF. He worked, for over 40 years, at ICI and was a Computer Services Manager at the time of his retirement in 1985.

He had attended professional football trials with both Everton and Stoke City and he enjoyed playing football for ICI and Barnton as well as supporting Liverpool FC, he also played bowls in the Mid Cheshire League and enjoyed fishing.

His family meant everything to him. He was a very kind, caring and patient man who was well liked by all who knew him and he is survived by his wife Ann, sons Glenn and Nicholas, three grandchildren and his brother Vincent.

Funeral arrangements were made by F Hayes and Son, Barnton.
