THE funeral took place recently of Charles Oswald Garton, husband of Rosemarie Garton, of Barnton, who died on January 25, aged 81.
Charles was born in Brumby, Lincs and lived in Barnton for 30 years.
He was latterly employed as a Counter Clerk at the Post Office for 27 years. Mr. Garton was educated in the Scunthorpe area.
During the war he served in the 8th Army for eight years, serving in El Alamein. He had made many tapestries.
Mr Garton is survived by his wife Rosemarie and three sons.
The funeral service was held at Walton Lea Crematorium, prior to cremation there.
The Rev Keith Fraser-Smith officiated.
Arrangements were made by F Hayes and Son, Barnton.
