THE funeral took place recently of Anthony (Tony) Franchitti, of Greenbank, who died on January 24 aged 83.
Tony was born in Northwich in 1919 to parents Anthony and Liza, he had two brothers Joe and Francis and two sisters Eileen and Mary.
He leaves one sister Mary and his beloved friend and long term partner Ada.
He spent a happy childhood in Northwich attending St Wilfrid's Catholic School, Northwich. Later at the age of 18, he joined the army serving most of his time in Burma and India during the Second World War.
In his early 20s Tony left the army and went to work for ICI Winnington where he stayed until his retirement in 1983. Tony married Margaret (Peggy) in 1948, Margaret died in 1974 they had no children and were married for 26 years and they lived in the Northwich and Greenbank area.
Tony enjoyed holidaying in Blackpool and watching all sports on the television, he was a member of the Northwich Branch of the Burma Star Association, he had a great sense of humour and will be sadly missed.
The funeral service was held at St Wilfrid's Roman Catholic Church, Northwich, prior to cremation at Altrincham Crematorium. The very Rev Canon P Healy officiated.
