A WILLASTON mum has lost her fight for life after she was involved in a car smash on a country road in Wardle near Nantwich.

Dawn Barnard's family paid tribute to the 35-year-old care worker who they described as 'jolly and loving'.

Dawn was a loving mum of two daughters, Kayleigh, 14, and six-year-old Chloe.

She lived at Circle Avenue with her partner Michael Boulton to whom she got engaged at Christmas.

The accident happened on the A51 Nantwich Road near to the Jolly Tar Inn on a Sunday morning in January.

It happened as Dawn, in her black Fiat Uno, emerged from Wardle Avenue to turn right towards Nantwich and was in collision with a blue Ford Escort heading towards Chester.

An air ambulance was originally called out to the accident along with other emergency services including two ambulances.

The driver of the Escort, a 40-year-old man from Keele, was taken to Leighton Hospital with serious injuries from which he later recovered.

Dawn was taken to Leighton Hospital's intensive care ward with internal injuries before being transferred to Aintree University Hospital in Liverpool.

Sadly she lost her fight for life in the hospital a month after the collision.

Dawn grew up in Willaston attending Willaston County Primary School and Malbank High.

She bought her home around the corner from her parents Margaret and Stuart and sister Karen, aged 33.

Mum Margaret said: "Dawn was always jolly, laughing and joking and she always had time for other people."

A police spokesman said: "Conditions were clear at the time of the accident. We are currently looking into what may have caused the crash."

Police are appealing for witnesses to the accident. Anyone who may have seen anything should contact PC Nick Moore on 500222.
