Vocal pop band The Magnets play on Merseyside for the first time on Friday, March 14 at the Pacific Road Arts Centre.

The band uses no instruments to make their music, creating a full pop sound a cappella, using only voices - including the drums and bass.

The Magnets are regulars on the nation's TV screens. Recent appearances have seen the group singing with Geri Halliwell on The Parkinson Show, enduring abuse from Mr Blobby on The Generation Game, and being snowed on in the GMTV Christmas special.

The group also appeared at the Queen's Jubilee Party at the Palace - warming up the crowd in the moments before 100 million people switched on their TV sets.

Signed to the EMI label in 2000, The Magnets released their debut album 'Giving It All That' in 2001 and are currently completing their second album. The band's new single 'Another Place' will be released on April 6.

Band member Nic Doodson said: "Forget Pop Rivals and manufactured bands. Our concert at the Pacific Road Arts Centre gives the Birkenhead audience an opportunity to see great live pop singing close up and personal."

The show details are as follows: Friday, March 14, 8pm, Pacific Road Arts Centre, Birkenhead, Wirral, CH41 1LJ. Tickets £9/£7. Box Office: 0151 647 0752.
