AS we have a lot of bad drivers travelling through Halton, I am delighted that at least one agency is doing something.

The bridge markings were altered to alleviate the problem of last-minute lane changing; Daresbury dual carriageway was altered because of the dangerous intersection and Greenway Road access was altered to improve traffic flow to the bridge. Also, the roundabout at the junction of Moor Lane and Ashley Way had the markings altered to educate drivers that left turn means left turn etc.

All of the above are to me as a professional driver, commonsense but for some idiots they make no difference whatsoever.

They will go wherever they want, how they want and when they want, with complete disregard for everyone else.

Personally, I am grateful to the council for its actions, but where are the real guardians of driving standards and safety in this - the police? They can be found manning radar traps just up the road from speed cameras - six at a time!

They can be found maintaining a high-visibility presence on straight pieces of good road! They can be found hiding behind bushes on road bridges manning radar traps!

However, they can't be found where the lunatics habitually cut up patient drivers, or where the lunatics make u-turns at intersections, or where they junction hop in order to gain a 200 yard advantage.

I am law-abiding and totally in support of a good police force, but his one leaves a lot to be desired. Halton is known as a place where bad driving is not tolerated by the local council.
