WHO'S sorry now for voting unitary status?

What a bunch of con artists Halton Council are!

I didn't have much confidence in our council when they wanted to leave Cheshire and now this tax hike has just proved to me how right I was. We are paying good money for a second rate service.

When in Cheshire, education was county wide, losing grants to people educated out of the borough would not have affected us this way. Roads were gritted, the police force, who we still pay to Cheshire, was more manned and rates were cheaper.

Look at the increases in our Cheshire neighbours. It's nowhere near the rise we have suffered since having left Cheshire County Council.

I wish local elections could be held just when the council leak to the papers the tax increases are to be forced on us. That way we could vent our objections by the ballot box. We have not saved by going unitary. If anything we have paid more.
