MIDDLEWICH once again became a diversion route last Tuesday, February 11, when an heavy goods wagon overturned on the M6 at junction 18.
A section of the motorway was closed as a result of gravel being spread across the whole of the northbound carriageway.
The incident happened at 5.20pm and all vehicles were diverted off at junction 18 for six hours while the gravel was cleared from the road.
During the clean up operation on the closed section of the motorway a minor collision occurred on the southbound carriageway causing substantial tailbacks.
At 11.25pm the M6 was reopened although lane three remained closed for repairs as rescue workers had to cut away a section of the central reservation to allow traffic to turn around.
