FANS and parents associated with junior football in and around Runcorn may have noticed a rise in standards this year.
This, in part, is down to special junior team manager training given to clubs during the summer of 2002, covering tactics to child protection.
The courses, held over several Sundays, were funded through the Runcorn and District FA, who used a grant to hire top coaches from the Cheshire FA.
Costing £45 a time, they charged clubs just £5, with some 10 to 15 staff members attending the Pavilions, in Runcorn.
After their success, plans are now afoot for further course, including open age sides.
