NEW roadworks will begin on Friday which are likely to cause delays for motorists until May.
As part of Halton's Local Transport Plan, the £700,000 road scheme will improve the section of the A562 Speke Road between Everite Road and Ditton roundabout to overcome the uneven road surface which leads to the Bridge.
Work will start on the westbound carriageway first followed by the second phase involving restrictions on the eastbound carriageway in April.
A 40mph speed restriction will be enforced by speed cameras.
The programme allows for the westbound carriageway to be reopened in April, in time for increased access to Liverpool airport for the Easter holidays.
