THE funeral has taken place of Mary Winifred Korta who died on January 6, aged 82.

Mary was born in Castle, one of five children, to parents Annie and George Brocklehurst. Mary attended St Wilfrid's RC Primary School and Church, her faith always important to her throughout her life.

She served in the WRAF in her twenties and later moved with her husband to Manchester where they raised their children. She worked in various industries and in her fifties retrained at secretarial college.

Mary was a talented seamstress and enjoyed reading and looking after her home and family. Following the death of her husband Jan, Mary returned to live in her hometown of Northwich, close once again to her sisters Nancy and Lucy.

Mary enjoyed having her family and grandchildren around her and she lived independently until suffering a stroke. After being cared for by her daughter Clare, she eventually needed nursing care.

Mary dedicated her life to her family and was a dearly loved mum to Christopher, Stephen and Clare, a much-loved mother-in-law to Ann, Janet and Stephen and a devoted Grandma to William, Matthew, Jonathan, Anna and Joseph.

Mary will be sadly missed by her family and friends, whose lives she touched with love.

The funeral service was held at St Wilfrid's RC Church prior to interment at Northwich Cemetery. Canon Healey officiated. Floral tributes were received.

Arrangements were by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
