THE funeral was held recently of Alice Pickering who died on February 1, aged 89.

Alice had lived at the same address in Manchester Road, Northwich for 87 of her 89 years prior to her brief but happy stay at Daneside Mews.

On leaving school Alice served her apprenticeship with Walton's Tailors in Great Budworth where she stayed all her working life as a tailor and close family friend of the Waltons.

Eventually she took over the business, prior to her retirement in 1973.

A devoted member of the Methodist Church for over 86 years at Manchester Road and more recently at Northwich, Alice was a popular Sunday school teacher for more than 60 years. After the church her passion was walking and she would still walk for miles in her eighties.

Alice lived a very happy and healthy life and as well as being a much-loved auntie and great auntie she had many, many friends.

She continued to make friends in Daneside Mews and was a popular resident, always smiling and forever positive. Her grace, dignity and sheer love of life will be remembered with affection by all who knew her.

The Rev Paul Saunders conducted the service at Northwich Methodist Church prior to interment at Lostock Churchyard. Family flowers were received along with donations for Northwich Methodist Church.

Arrangements by George Bell Funeral Service, Northwich.
