A LEADING figure in the Warrington Council of Faiths believes war is indefensible no matter what the circumstances.
Shaukat Rashid, chairman of the council, said that war is immoral - especially as all the lines of dialogue have not been exhausted.
Mr Rashid, who is also on the board of the Warrington Islamic Association, said: "It is incomprehensible that the US has picked on the one state particularly when UN resolutions have been broken by a number of other countries."
He also blamed the media, especially newspapers based in the US, for linking terrorism to Islam - arguing that there is no relationship between the two.
"There never seems to be a rational thought process put forward," he said.
"There are good and bad people in every community, religion and culture and it is wrong that terrorism is linked to faith."
