A Cub Scout has beaten off nationwide competition in an exclusive prize giveaway.
Steven London, aged nine, is a member of the 1st Moore Scout Group based in Moss Lane.
The competition, organised by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency, asked Cubs across the country to sketch and design a sandcastle using any materials they liked.
Steven used a 'layering' effect on his winning entry, applying a layer of glue over his picture of the castle and then sprinkling sand over the top. He repeated this process to give the design a 3-D effect and an inventive texture to the touch.
He also drew a moat on the design, using silver glitter for the water. Steven completed the piece by adding a Union flag to the top of the castle.
As a result of Steven's victory, all the Cubs in the 1st Moore Scout Group have won a trip to a coastguard station and free entry to the Sea Life Centre, Blackpool - a trip which is likely to take place in mid-March.
