ONE in four young people, aged between 12 and 16, has been a victim of crime in the last 12 months.
The research, which has been carried out by Victim Support, marks the start of a campaign by the charity to introduce support services for all young people who have been affected by crime.
Nearly half of youngsters who are victims have been subjected to repeat incidents with some reporting more than five incidents in the past year.
The most common offences were violence, with 54 per cent and theft, with 43 per cent.
