ALFORD A are hanging on to their lead by a thread at the top of Warrington Snookers Centre Snooker League Division Two after suffering a thumping 6-1 defeat at the hands of Alliance B.
The result opened the door for Rylands B to move within a single point of top spot courtesy of a comprehensive victory over Snookers C.
Three points further back in third place are St. Josephs, who won 4-3 at Walkers D, while Roosters B moved back in contention with a 7-0 whitewash of Penketh Legion B.
At the other end of the table, British Rail A eased the threat of relegation with a terrific 7-0 win at Deaf Social A.
British Rail B extended their lead at the top of Division Three to nine points with a 4-3 victory over Stockton Heath B.
Second-placed Roosters D slipped up at home to a much improved St. Benedicts side. They lost 4-3 as did third-placed Alliance A. Monk D provided the opposition.
Division Three leaders Snookers A had to be on top of their game to defeat Culcheth Legion 4-3 and maintain their 16-point cushion over the chasing pack.
Irlam Cons jumped into second place with a storming 7-0 win against Walkers B while Irish Club A dropped to third after losing 5-2 at Winwick Social.
Roosters C lost ground on the leaders due to a 4-3 defeat at Snookers B. John Holt made a break of 48 for Roosters.
