LOWLY Warrington women's hockey team proved that they are worthy of their Cheshire Division Three place with a convincing 2-0 win against Crewe Vagrants on Saturday.

Warrington's defence stood firm against a team that had scored three goals against them in the away match.

The first goal came after Charlotte Inman's determination to stop the ball from going off the back line paid off as it was passed back for Stephanie Rawlins to score.

Their second came from a short corner routine that earned Emma Barlow a place on the score sheet.

Warrington's performance was excellent but Hollie Acklam stood out as player of the match.

Warrington have two friendlies on Saturday - the firsts play Hope at 12.30pm at Lymm followed by the seconds against Chester and District at 2pm.
