THE Sunken Gardens are to be targeted by Lymm Parish Council in the village centre for a clean-up operation.

Clr Ian Marks said he had received complaints that the area, behind the lower dam, was badly lit, often had rubbish surrounding it and that the railings were in desperate need of a repaint.

He said: "It really is dreadful and it is right in the centre of Lymm, it is a bad advert.

"There are leaves everywhere and when it rains it has the potential to be quite dangerous - especially if children are down there."

The council agreed to contact the borough council with regard to the fencing, arranged for cleaning of the area to take place more regularly and for investigations to take place to see if a light could be installed in the area.

It is also seeking to fund some planting in the area to brighten the place up and encourage more people to use it.
