Warrington Grange 1

Tranmere Rovers 3

WARRINGTON Grange women's soccer side gave Tranmere a real run for their money in the semi-finals of the Cheshire Cup on Sunday.

Three divisions separate the two sides but Grange were fired up for the game and they competed well with their National Premier League opponents throughout.

They showed tremendous spirit and determination and Tranmere, who were very composed and had pace and energy in abundance, were kept at bay until the 40-minute mark.

Grange should be extremely proud of their efforts.

Goalkeeper Nicola Sadler should be particularly pleased with herself after making a number of fine saves.

Tranmere's goalkeeper was also called into action on several occasions but Grange only managed to score one goal via Sarah Sheldon.

On Sunday, third-placed Grange play Bolton Wanderers at home in a North West Premier Division game which kicks off at 2pm.

It will be Grange's last home match for six weeks.
