Bates clinches her first sweep success

WARRINGTON Public Parks' Bowls League will be holding a winter sweep at Bank Park on Sunday with a 9.15am draw for a 9.30am start.

Sunday's sweep winner was Sue Bates, who defeated Geoff Bourne 21-17 in the final to clinch her first winter sweep success.

The losing semi-finalists were Norman Sutton and Dave McEllin.

Meanwhile, entries are now being taken for the league's Pre-season Floodlight competition to be played from 6.45pm on April 1 and 2 at Victoria Park

The competition has a £2 entrance fee and is open to Tuesday night league players only.

Fans' night

THE first annual meeting of Warrington Supporters' Trust will take place at Wilderspool Stadium's Touchdown Club on March 4.

Trust officials say they will be reporting on a 'reasonably encouraging' infancy for the Trust as well as looking forward to 2003 objectives.

There will be an open forum section to the night with coaches, players and some of the people who were in attendance at the launch night of Squadbuilder.

The event will start at 7.30pm.

Town march on

THREE goals in the opening five minutes of the second half killed off Denton Athletic as Warrington Town Youth marched on in the Wilf Hickson Memorial Cup.

Two goals from James Lewis and one from Paul Hicken set Town on their way.

Later, Dave Berry scored directly from a corner to finish worthy 4-0 winners.

Man of the match for Warrington was James Lewis.

Semi-finals clash

WARRINGTON Solvay Junior Soccer League's Under 14s representative side play away to the Craven Minor League in the semi-finals of the Liverpool County Cup on Sunday.

For any spectators who would like to go, the coach will be leaving the Rope and Anchor pub on Manchester Road, Woolston, at 11.30am.
