Cadishead 22 Haresfinch A 4

EVEN bolstered by the inclusion of the permitted four first teamers, Finch second string were unable to stop Cadishead clinching the Division Six title.

The home side had first use of the slope and used it to good effect building up an early 16-0 lead with three tries and two conversions.

Finch though fought back to make it 16-6 at the interval thanks to a solo try by Colin Rogers, which he also converted.

A Rogers penalty early in the second half reduced the deficit further, but despite some good attacking moves and strong runs by skipper Neil Keech and fellow forwards John Murray and Danny Flynn, Finch couldn't breach the strong Cadishead defence again.

The home men made sure of the points with another converted try and although the visitors plugged away to the end with John Jackson, Rogers and John Carlisle prominent they were unable to add to their tally.

Loose-forward Ant Parr was the S & S Motors man-of-the-match for Finch ahead of Jackson and Murray. Also worthy of mention were centres Martin Harrison and Dave Stanley, hooker and top tackler Lee Simmons, and second-rows Mark Bingham and Paul Martlew.
