Hindley 18 St Helens Vine 6
HINDLEY secured two vital points against second placed Vine.
Vine dominated throughout but at times were unable to convert pressure into points against a Hindley side who were well looked after by the referee.
All of the early running came from Vine, and nerves were settled when Matty Daniels stepped two defenders to put Danny Whittle under the sticks for Vines only try. Neil Kilshaw added the conversion.
Good running from Reid, Jonkers, Peel, Frederick and Chris Mark broke up Hindley's defence in the first half.
Late in the second period, Kelly, Diamond, Jonkers and Frederick all crossed the whitewash only to see their efforts disallowed.
Man of the match award went to Martin Jonkers, but he was well supported by Daniels, Peel, Thompson, Danny Whittle, Langley and Frederick.
