EARLESTOWN Town Snooker League leaders Bryn Labour suffered only their second defeat of the season this week.

They were beaten 4-2 at Stubshaw Cross Labour after losing four of the first five games.

Des Myler, Sid Siddall, Alan Whalley and Dave Fairclough were the men on form for Stubshaw.

North Ashton took a share of spoils with Beer Engine. They were indebted to fine play by Paul Speakman, who overcame Wayne Brown, Scott Wall, who defeated Steve Crutchley, and Len Smith, who saw off the challenge from Tony Banbury.

St. Pats hammered Newton Social A 5-1 on their own patch.

Carlton Lawrenson was Newton's only winner. Dave Mornan provided the opposition.

Neil Higgins rescued a point for Newton Social C in their game against Vicars by defeating Roland Barnes in the final game.

Haydock Catholic B trounced Haydock Reading Room B 5-1.

Dave Marsh, who came up against Dave Buckley, was Catholic's only loser.

Viaduct had Brian Cahill, Dave Marsh, Burke and Kenny Hollis to thank for their 4-2 success at Royal Hotel.

Kenny Wallace recorded a last game win for Royal Hotel at the expense of Les Parry.
