A WOMAN who was caught brandishing a kitchen knife at a school in Longford pleaded guilty to possession of an offensive weapon and assaulting a police officer when she appeared in court yesterday, Friday.
Louise Gray, aged 34, of Crowe Avenue, Longford, will be sentenced later this week.
She pleaded guilty to the two charges, which relate to an incident at Long Lane Primary School on February 13.
But a further charge of theft was withdrawn by the Crown Prosecution Service.
Parents hit out at education chiefs this week about being kept in the dark over the matter.
Gray was arrested at the school holding the kitchen knife, magistrates heard.
The first many parents knew about the incident was when their children got home and told them.
The security breach is believed to have happened when a kitchen door was left unlocked for an expected delivery to be made to the school.
Security is being stepped up at the school and a different system will be used when receiving deliveries in the future.
Gray was remanded in custody by magistrates and is expected to be sentenced over the incident.
