MERE 2nd XI hosted Ashton on Mersey at their Warrington Road ground.
Mere won the toss and elected to bat. Anton Rickard and Jamie Carroll opened the batting, putting on 21 before losing the first wicket.
Mark Barrett came in at number three but did not stay for long as a ball pitched up and knocked his cap off which removed the bails.
Antony Cunningham came to the rescue and put a quick 26 on the score before being caught off the bowling of Hadwa.
Jon Evison and Rik Plews put on 63 for an eighth wicket partnership, Rik finishing 34 not out, Carter 10 not out.
Final score 174 for 8
Ashton lost the first wicket with the first ball of the innings and dismissed in 41 overs for 102, Boyle finishing 41 not out.
Carter took 4 for 33, Ash Cunningham 4 for 20 and Mark Moore 2 for 11.
Mere took maximum points to increase their lead at the top of Division A
