FAST bowler Rob James scored a hat-trick on Saturday during a memorable afternoon for Knypersley 1st X1.

James' trio of successes came at home to league highfliers Stone, and left them in serious trouble at 50 for five.

However that was the last wicket they lost as they won with seven overs to spare.

Knypersley were bowled out for 158 in 54 overs, after standing at 118 for three at one stage.

Professional Arif Mahmood top scored with 55, ahead of Ross Salmon with 26, Paul Goodwin on 24 and Andy Jones on 23.

Knypersley made a superb start against the Stone batsmen, James taking the first two wickets at 14 and 36 before weighing in with his hat-trick with the score on 50.

However professional Hussain and Butters steadied the ship, and ended unbeaten on 63 and 44 as Stone hit 159 for five.

James also played a crucial role in Knypersley's second round Talbot Cup victory at Leycett on Sunday.

James hit an unbeaten 22 as Knypersley scored 30 off the last three overs to win with two balls left.

Knypersley travel to Kidsgrove tomorrow, and are at home to Burslem on Sunday.
