I AM writing in response to the Runcorn World's front page last week regarding the building of a new £25m business park near Daresbury laboratory after funding from the North West Development Agency.

Do people think we are all stupid?

The only reason they want to build on 13 acres of our green and pleasant land around Daresbury is similar to the development of Runcorn New Town in the 50s and 60s.

Someone is going to make a fortune out of it.

We have empty units on Astmoor, Whitehouse and Manor Park.

Why? Because Halton is not able to find anyone to take them but they will keep on building more of them and using any open space they can find which will spoil our countryside.

It's as big a joke as the question on the World's website asking what we think is the best council initiative since Halton became unitary.

They have not had one in Runcorn in my opinion, and to put Runcorn Old Town regeneration is an option is an insult to the ratepayers of Runcorn.

I am sure we are not the only town to have councillors who think they are playing with a Lego set, but for what they are worth, we may as well go back to being part of Cheshire County Council.
