HAVING previously raised my concerns on health matters in Halton and in the main the future of Halton Hospital, and having taken due account of comment from those who are empowered to pursue such matters, I must say that my fears for the future of health in Halton have not abated.

Although there have been a few letters in the World on this very important matter, much more important than some other concerns of late, my telephone and surgeries have been the recipient of much concern.

Indeed, I have received detailed correspondence from Murdishaw Community Forum on the matter.

Regarding emergencies and accidents, it would appear to me to be more beneficial if these local events were to be treated at the local hospital. Isn't that the function of a local hospital, amongst other things?

The Trust has commented that no decision has been taken and, that being so, then it is most appropriate to comment now, before the decision is made.

Also, I would ask, through the World, as to whatever has happened to the promised public consultation?

I also understand that hospital personnel have been instructed not to make further comment to the press.

Recent staff comment has indicated that much of the disquiet, which featured earlier in the year, still remains.
