With no party having overall control, the Conservatives invited the Liberal Democrats to form a joint administration to run the council.

Attempts to include the Labour group in the proposed administration, with offers of important positions on the executive and key committees were rejected out of hand by the Labour leadership.

The Labour group claims that the Liberal Democrats group had a long-planned coalition with the Conservatives prior to the election.

Where is their evidence?

In fact, no such agreement existed. The Conservatives decided the composition of the executive, not the Liberal Democrats.

When Labour was in control of Vale Royal Borough Council it held eight of the 10 seats on the executive, with one seat going to each of the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats. Labour also held all of the chairs and vice-chairs of the scrutiny committees. Where was proportionality then?

Majority

Are Brian Lloyd and Arthur Neil in the same Labour party as Winsford Labour members?

On Winsford Town Council, Labour holds 60 per cent of the seats, Liberal Democrats hold 40 per cent. But Labour members have voted themselves 100 per cent of the seats on outside bodies! Some proportionality!

The vast majority of the electorate wants a council that will listen to what the people have to say, provide good quality public services and keep Council Tax at a reasonable level.

If members of the Labour group had listened to the electorate, they might have had a better showing on election day.

Isn't it about time that members of the Labour group accept that the electorate has spoken - and rejected them?
