WHY do Fire Safety Officers and Environmental Health Officers telephone firms to say they're visiting?
If they did spot checks un-announced they'd actually see where people work. Things get moved and cleaned up before they arrive. Environmental Health should swoop on a very hot day and on a very cold day thermometer in hand.
