WARRINGTON North MP Helen Jones is calling on secondary schools in her constituency to take part in Giving Nation, a national scheme encouraging 11- to 16-year-olds to pay more attention to charity and the community to highlight citizenship issues.

Giving Nation has been developed by The Giving Campaign - a partnership between charities and the Government to help develop a stronger culture of giving in the UK.

The initiative aims to help younger people understand the power of giving and the importance of charities in shaping a fair and inclusive world.

Mrs Jones said: "I know that many secondary school pupils already do a great deal to support good causes by volunteering their time and putting their efforts into fundraising.

"I want to see all our schools involved, because this scheme not only supports the work being done on citizenship but also because it's good for them and it's good for the community."
