AUDITIONS for this year's Celebration of Youth festival, which were held at the weekend, have been hailed a huge success by organisers.
And while the winning band members for the Popstrels event have now been decided, the identity of the five starlets will remain secret until the end of the month.
Budding young hopefuls flocked to the Peace Centre on Saturday to audition for Popstrels, Pop Icon and Filmstarz.
Project co-ordinator Kelly Simcock said: "We never intentionally set out to find a girl band. It's just that the standard of the girls was much higher than the boys."
Filmstarz was also a big success and the huge demand has meant that co-ordinator Nicola Wall has extended the cast size and is still looking to audition hopefuls until next week.
