LOLLIPOP men and women in Warrington are celebrating the school crossing patrol's 50th anniversary - but there are still vacancies outside schools in the borough.
To mark the golden jubilee, crossing patrol attendants were invited to a special service at Walton Hall and thanked by Ken Johnson, the borough council's assistant director for welfare and facilities, for their hard work in bad weather and on busy roads.
Recruiting lollipop men and women is often difficult.
Nik Iddon, school crossing patrol manager, said: "In Warrington it is not too serious but there are vacancies throughout the borough and I would urge anyone who is interested in earning £5.22 per hour for between seven and 10 hours' work per week during term time to contact us."
