TWO Warrington community groups have been awarded internet-ready PCs in BT's £1.2million community connections scheme.
The initiative connects community groups to the Internet and encourages the use of technology to enhance local life.
One of the groups that made a positive impact and succeeded in its application was Epsom Gardens Residents' Association in Appleton.
Epsom Gardens is a sheltered housing complex for the elderly, which encourages social interaction, community spirit and participation.
"The main aims were to encourage new communication for residents and the whole community. We hope this scheme will widen participation in learning and with adequate training we hope people will find inspiration in new skills," said Barbara Hunter from Warrington Health Association.
Also among the 46 winning north west community groups was Padgate's Blackbrook Residents' Association, run by a group committee.
Shirley Smith, association secretary, said: "The new Internet-ready PCs are available for anyone to use in the area, we hope communication skills will continue to improve with this scheme being a big success for us."
